One advantage of Linux is the great number of available applications. Some of them are quite old and are fully developed but they run on the console. On the other hand there are very new ones that may be quite unstable due to their state of development. Thus, it is not easy for Linux-newbies to find the right applications.
In this section, I want to present the applications that I have had experience working with. Comparing my favorites with the ones of other users, I found many are the same, so you might want to try these out. Also, do not forget: You get (almost) all applications for free.
I divided this section into several subsections that you can find below. You will see a description of the apps on the left, a thumbnail and the link to its homepage on the right. Clicking on the thumbnail, you'll get a screenshot of the program. Don't be surprised at the German menus, each application can always "speak" English and many more languages additionally.
